AI search tools recommend businesses that have a page for the exact service asked about, the same details on directories and booking sites, visible reviews, and a clear reason to choose them. In our test, every clinic named had a dedicated veneers page.
Type “best dental clinic in Dubai Marina for veneers” into an AI search tool. You don’t get ten blue links. You get a short list of named clinics, a “my pick” section and a booking checklist.
If your clinic isn’t on that list, the patient may never see you.
On 6 November 2026 we ran that exact search on Perplexity. Then we traced every source behind the answer.
What did the AI answer?
Perplexity named five clinics in Dubai Marina and JBR. For each one, it gave a reason, a location and, if it could find one, a rating and review count. Then it picked three winners: best first visit, best for open hours, and best high-end option.
The answer took four seconds.
Where did the AI get its answer?
Every claim linked to a source. The sources fell into three groups:
Two clinics showed “rating not specified”. The AI still listed them, but with less detail. Next to the others, they looked weaker.
4 lessons for any Dubai business
1. Pages that match the question win
The clinics that were named had a page just for veneers. Not a general “cosmetic dentistry” page. AI tools pull from pages that answer the exact service asked about.
2. Directories do your marketing, or they don’t
For two clinics, the ratings and address came from directories, not the clinic’s own site. If your listings are missing or out of date, the AI skips you or shows a gap.
3. Reviews are something the AI shows
The comparison showed review counts openly. 500 reviews looks very different from no rating at all.
4. Give the AI a reason to pick you
Each clinic got a one-line reason, like “open seven days”. These came from how the clinics describe themselves. If your site doesn’t say what makes you different, the AI has nothing to say about you.
How do I get my business into AI answers?
- One page per main service. Answer price, steps, timing and who it suits.
- The same details everywhere. Same name, address, phone, hours and services on Google Business Profile, booking sites and directories.
- A steady flow of reviews. Ask every happy customer, a few days after their visit. Clinics must follow DHA rules on reviews.
- Say what makes you different. “Open seven days”, “Arabic and English visits”: short, clear and true.
- FAQs with full answers. Real questions, answered in two to four sentences. AI tools quote this often.
Try it yourself in two minutes
Open ChatGPT, Perplexity or Google AI Mode and type:
- “Best [your service] in [your area of Dubai]”
- “Is [your business name] good for [service]?”
- The same question in Arabic.
Note who is named, which sources are shown, and if you appear at all. Try again in a month.
Questions businesses ask
How does ChatGPT or Perplexity choose which businesses to recommend?
In our test, the AI used the business’s own service pages, directories and booking sites, and review counts. Businesses with a page for the exact service and clear details were named more often.
Can I pay to be recommended by AI?
No. Ads, like ChatGPT Ads, show separately below the answer. Being named in the answer comes from your content, listings and reviews.
Do reviews affect AI recommendations?
They are shown openly in AI comparisons. In our test, clinics with ratings and review counts looked stronger than those without.
Should I check AI answers in Arabic too?
Yes. AI tools can name different businesses in Arabic and English. Test both.
Example captured on Perplexity (logged out, English) on 6 November 2026. Clinic names are not shown. AI answers change by user, time and wording.
