WhatsApp Business API pricing in the UAE: what changed on 1 October 2026

Replies to customers on WhatsApp used to be free. Now they cost money after the first 1,000 each month. Here is what you pay in dirhams and how to pay less.

In short

Since 1 October 2026, Meta charges for WhatsApp Business API replies after 1,000 free replies per number each month. In the UAE that is about AED 0.058 per reply. Marketing messages cost about AED 0.212 each. Chats that start from a Click-to-WhatsApp ad are still free for 72 hours.

Until 30 September 2026, replying to a customer on the WhatsApp Business Platform was free. From 1 October, it isn’t.

Meta now charges for “service messages”. These are the replies your team or chatbot sends after a customer messages you. Each business phone number gets 1,000 free replies a month. After that, every reply costs money.

This matters a lot in the UAE. Patients book on WhatsApp. Buyers ask about homes on WhatsApp. Shoppers check orders on WhatsApp.

3 examples: what businesses now pay

These examples use Meta’s list prices. They leave out provider fees and VAT.

1. A dental clinic with one WhatsApp number

2,500 replies to patients and 500 reminders a month. The first 1,000 replies are free. The other 1,500 cost about AED 86. The reminders cost about AED 29. Total: about AED 115 a month. The AED 86 for replies used to be free.

2. A property company with three agent numbers

6,000 replies, 1,000 viewing confirmations and 2,000 new-launch messages a month. 3,000 replies are free (1,000 per number). Total: about AED 684 a month, including the 7% Cloud API charge on marketing.

3. An online shop with one number

800 replies (all free), 1,500 order updates and 4,000 sale messages a month. Total: about AED 991 a month.

Busy support teams, like clinics and property companies, feel this change the most. Shops that send lots of sale messages were already paying.

How can I pay less for WhatsApp?

  1. Say it in one message, not three. Every reply counts. Put the answer, the link and the next step together. AI assistants help because they answer fully the first time.
  2. Send reminders before people ask. “Your visit is tomorrow at 4 pm. Reply 1 to confirm.” is one message. Answering the same question by hand often takes two or three.
  3. Send ad traffic to WhatsApp. Chats that start from a Click-to-WhatsApp ad stay free for 72 hours.
  4. Check your marketing setup. If you use the Cloud API, ask your provider about Meta’s Marketing Messages API. It can remove the 7% charge.
Check todayIf you never added credit to your WhatsApp account because nothing cost money, add it now. Without credit, replies can fail.

Is WhatsApp still worth it?

Yes. At about 6 fils per reply, WhatsApp is still one of the cheapest ways to answer a customer in the UAE. The change rewards businesses that answer clearly and use automation well.
