AI receptionist vs human receptionist in Dubai: the real cost

A patient calls at 10:47 pm. Nobody answers. Here is what your front desk really costs, what AI can do, and why most clinics use both.

In short

A clinic receptionist in Dubai costs about AED 4,300–7,500 a month all-in (estimated) and covers about 48 hours a week. Published AI receptionist plans cost roughly AED 1,000–3,700 a month plus usage and cover all 168 hours. Most clinics do best with both: AI answers first, people handle sensitive cases.

A patient calls your clinic at 10:47 pm to book a cleaning. Nobody answers. At 10:49 they call the next clinic on Google Maps.

Every Dubai clinic owner knows this happens. Few know what it costs. Here are real numbers.

How much does a clinic receptionist cost in Dubai?

Dubai clinic receptionist job ads in 2026 usually offer AED 3,500 to AED 6,000 a month. People who speak Arabic and English, and big hospital groups, are at the top of that range.

Where the salaries come from: Dubai job ads on Qureos, Gulf News Classifieds and Jooble (Aug–Oct 2026), and the UAE Career salary guide (Apr 2026). These are advertised ranges, not a survey.

Salary is only part of it. UAE employers also pay for a visa, health insurance, end-of-service money, leave cover and often a yearly ticket. We estimate this adds AED 800 to AED 1,500 a month. Your HR provider can give exact numbers.

Can one receptionist cover your opening hours?

No. One full-time person covers about 48 hours a week. A clinic open 9 am to 9 pm, seven days a week, is open 84 hours. And a week has 168 hours.

So one person can’t cover your hours, let alone evenings, Fridays, holidays and WhatsApp messages that arrive at night. Most clinics hire a second person or accept missed calls.

What can an AI receptionist do?

An AI receptionist is software that answers calls and messages, in Arabic and English, day and night. Good ones in the UAE can:

  • Answer WhatsApp, Instagram, web chat and phone calls 24/7.
  • Switch between Arabic and English in one conversation.
  • Book open slots in your calendar or patient system.
  • Send confirmations and reminders, so fewer people miss visits.
  • Pass hard or medical questions to a person.

Prices vary a lot. Published plans range from a few hundred dollars a month for chat only, to about $1,000 (about AED 3,670) for voice and many channels. Check what is included: call minutes, WhatsApp chats, languages, system links and set-up fees.

RememberSince 1 October 2026, Meta charges for WhatsApp replies after 1,000 per number each month. Add that to the cost of any AI receptionist on WhatsApp. See WhatsApp prices.

Why do most clinics use both?

AI is good at the repeated questions: “Are you open Friday?”, “How much is a cleaning?”, “Can I move my visit?”. People are good at the rest: a worried patient, a billing problem, a walk-in.

  1. AI answers first, on every channel, every hour.
  2. Simple bookings go straight into the calendar.
  3. Anything sensitive goes to your receptionist, with the full chat attached.
  4. Your receptionist spends the day with patients in the room, not on the phone.

The result: fewer missed bookings at night, and a calmer front desk in the day.

6 questions to ask before you buy

  1. Does it understand Gulf Arabic, not just formal Arabic?
  2. Can it book straight into our calendar or patient system?
  3. Does it answer phone calls, or only chat?
  4. Where is patient data stored? Does that meet DHA and UAE rules?
  5. How does it pass chats to a person, and how fast?
  6. What will it cost at our real monthly volume, including WhatsApp fees?
